I was told by the Kia dealership in Perry that I have an extended warranty on my 2016 Kia Sorento and now the my engine went out I was told that they were not covering the cost of the engine. Adrienne R Hilton (Written August 7, 2023) I have a 2016 Kia Sorento and want to know where I need to go to sign up for the class action law suit. I think that cars should be fully autonomous or fully driven but anything in between seems to have increased traffic danger and reduced peoples' sense of obligation to take personal responsibility for their decision to engage in "driving." I do hope that most people settle into their Teslas and let the car do it's thing while looking out the windows, but I know for a fact that all the assistance features are giving a general sense that one can do other things besides "driving" while behind the wheel of a 2 ton 70mph lump of steel. Should be the opposite of using a phone or screen when in the real world, situational awareness is primary.when on a screen, we are blocking out our surroundings and trying to see the world thru a very small window that is immersive and demands all our faculties to interpret, operate, or reference. Which means that ALL necessary controls MUST be available WITH NO SCREEN.A car should disappear around you and plug useful data into you when driving. Unless the screen is smallish and/or integrated fully into the console/dash, ALL screens SHOULD HAVE THE OPTION TO FOLD DOWN/AWAY. At least in my Porsches the screen is amber on black, except when using nav. BOOM, at night when I just want to drive, cruise, and embrace the night, there is no better place than a German car with amber dash and instrument lighting, and NO SCREEN VISIBLE. I was so happy being able to fold the screen into the dash that I set the softkey on the steering wheel to do just that. The 13 has a rudimentary touch feature, but both function like a complicated 3din stereo head unit rather than like a modern touchscreen.I suppose that in theory I'm not opposed to emergency stop features, and so long as the system functions as intended, I would leave it turned on, just in case the car saw something I didn't and could use the potency of a computer slowing the car as fast as theoretically possible, rather than only as fast as the driver can hit the brakes. The best feature I ever experienced with a screen in any car was when I rented an 08 BMW 135. Also nice is a small screen for complex settings.the infotainment system in my 08 and 13 Porsches are perfect they don't even let you get very deep in the menus when the car is moving. But not entirely necessary.currently the 2 cars we drive most have a bluetooth/FM transmitter. Dr Mindbender Nice to have: integrated bluetooth, so I can listen to the music I want. Please see FDA guidance on the use of at-home COVID-19 antigen tests. Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or patient management decisions, including infection control decisions. As noted in the labeling for authorized over-the-counter antigen tests: Negative results should be treated as presumptive (meaning that they are preliminary results).Antigen tests are available for at-home testing (self-testing), at the point of care, or in a laboratory. Most antigen tests are less expensive than NAATs and can provide results in minutes. Because antigen tests have lower sensitivity, FDA recommends negative antigen tests be repeated up to three times, with each test 48 hours apart to confirm a negative result. Antigen tests generally have high specificity, similar to NAATs, but are less sensitive than most NAATs. A positive test indicates current infection. Antigen tests are immunoassays that detect the presence of specific viral proteins, called antigens. Most NAATs produce qualitative (positive/negative) results. Most NAATs need to be performed in a laboratory, although some are performed at the point-of-care. Therefore, NAATs should not be used to test someone who has tested positive in the last 90 days. Viral RNA may stay in a person’s body for up to 90 days after they test positive. PCR tests are the most common type of NAAT used for COVID-19 testing. Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAATs) are highly sensitive and highly specific tests that detect one or more viral ribonucleic acid (RNA) genes.Viral tests can also be used as screening tests. Viral tests, including Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAATs, such as PCR tests), antigen tests and other tests (such as breath tests) are used as diagnostic tests to detect current infection with SARS-CoV-2, determine the need for prevention measures like isolation, and to inform an individual’s medical care. Testing for SARS-CoV-2 Infection Test Types This method is the easier one of the two. The second is risky and demands constant vigilance and apprehension: seek and learn to recognize who and what, in the midst of the inferno, are not inferno, then make them endure, give them space.” The first is easy for many: accept the inferno and become such a part of it that you can no longer see it. There are two ways to escape suffering it. He said: “It is all useless, if the last landing place can only be the infernal city, and it is there that, in ever-narrowing circles, the current is drawing us.”Īnd Polo said: “The inferno of the living is not something that will be if there is one, it is what is already here, the inferno where we live every day, that we form by being together. IE University.Įxcerpt of Invisible Cities (Le città invisibili) by Italo Calvino (1972).Īlready the Great Khan was leafing through his atlas, over the maps of the cities that menace in nightmares and maledictions: Enoch, Babylon, Yahool and Butua, Brave New World. In terms of being an investigation of storytelling, Invisible Cities is often compared with stories by Jorge Luis Borges (in particular “The Library of Babel”) and several of Samuel Beckett’s novels, including The Unnamable and Malone Dies.Goretti González – Visiting Professor & Academic Coordinator of Humanities, IE School of Global & Public Affairs. Constrained writing techniques can include mathematical and cyclical organization of the kind used in Invisible Cities, or, as in Georges Perec’s novel The Void, using a lipogram (not using one particular letter throughout the novel in that case, the letter e). Additionally, Calvino was a member of the Oulipo group of writers, founded in 1960, that focused on writing prose and poetry using systems of constrained writing. Calvino wrote his master’s thesis on Joseph Conrad, who is best known for Heart of Darkness, and though Conrad wrote in an entirely different style than Calvino, both men focus to a degree on exploration of “new” lands and the consequences of such exploration. Within Invisible Cities, Calvino makes direct references to Thomas More’s Utopia and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, as well as to Guy Debord’s seminal 1967 philosophical work Society of the Spectacle, which critiques modern consumer culture and criticizes modern dependence on images to mediate experiences. Invisible Cities draws on The Travels of Marco Polo, which was recorded late in the 13th century by Rustichello de Pisa from Polo’s recollections of his travels. Calvino died in 1985 of a cerebral hemorrhage. He wrote Invisible Cities during this time. After the death of a close friend and the cultural revolution in France, Calvino went through an “intellectual depression” and joined the Oulipo group of writers. He left the Italian Communist Party after the Soviet Union invaded Hungary in 1957, and though he retained his belief in communism as a concept, he never joined another party. After this, he began to write fantastical novels, all of which were well received. He began publishing novels and stories to great acclaim in the late 1940s, but his realist novels received poor reviews. Following the war, Calvino returned to Turin, completed a master’s thesis on Joseph Conrad, and became active in communist groups and publications. He went into hiding rather than join the military, decided that communists had the most convincing argument, and joined the communist Italian Resistance in 1944. During World War II, Calvino enrolled at the University of Turin and then at the University of Florence in their Agriculture departments, hiding his literary interests. His parents were openly derisive of both religion and the ruling National Fascist Party and as such, they exempted Calvino from religious classes at school. His father spent time in Mexico before moving to Cuba, and his mother gave Calvino his first name to remind him of his Italian heritage-though Calvino’s family moved back to Europe when Calvino was two years old. They’re good for pinning a Leviathan, giving you a head-start to escape, but you’ll need a whole lot to kill one. Seamoth Vortex Torpedo – Vortex Torpedoes are ammunition for the Seamoth’s torpedo tubes, capable of dealing damage to a creature and holding it in place for a few seconds. You’ll be able to lift pretty much anything, including larger structures like the aforementioned Thermal Plant. Prawn Suit Propulsion Cannon – The Prawn Suit Propulsion Cannon is essentially an upgraded version of the standard Propulsion Cannon, but made for the Prawn Suit.If you plan to build a base in a hot area, or in a location with thermal vents, Thermal Plants are a must. Thermal Plant – One of the best ways to passively generate energy. This includes leviathans as well as objects. Repulsion Cannon – Another tool for self-defense, the Repulsion Cannon is a modification to the Propulsion Cannon that can be used to repel things, unsurprisingly.Effective at ensuring a Reaper’s jaws don’t get too close, with each shot locking a creature in place for a few seconds. Stasis Rifle – One of your only options for self-defense.Here’s what you can craft with Magnetite in Subnautica: Some items, while not strictly necessary for progression, will be invaluable to you, making it a resource worth collecting. Magnetite is a pretty versatile resource, one that is needed to craft all kinds of various items. Problem is, if you’re close enough to hear it, it’s close enough to see you. Reapers are loud, so you’ll probably hear them from quite a distance away. If you venture into the Mountains for your Magnetite, you should explore stealthily. If you’re spotted by a Reaper, you won’t be able to outswim it without one. Needless to say, a Seamoth is vital for traveling in this area. Reaper Leviathans call the Mountains home, so you’ll have to contend with them if you want to obtain Magnetite. However, if you choose to explore the Mountains, you’ll have to deal with much more than mere Crab Snakes. Near the geothermal vents that can be found in the biome, you can find a good chunk, too. Magnetite can be found readily all over the Mountains, lying on the seabed and clinging to the walls. While perhaps not as suitable in the early game as the Jellyshroom Cave, and definitely a lot more dangerous, this biome has much more to offer in terms of resources. If you’re looking for a little more danger, you could search for Magnetite in the Mountains instead. If you can sneak past them, or better yet, find an unguarded Jellyshroom, you’ll have access to a good supply of Magnetite.Īlso Read: Where To Find Nickel Ore Mountains They are highly territorial, tending to stick close to their particular Jellyshroom and only leaving to patrol for threats. These guys aren’t that tough your Seamoth will provide more than enough defense against their attacks, and they won’t pursue you for long. This means you’ll need to brush up against the predator of this area – the Crab Snake. While resources can be found all over the Jellyshroom Cave, they seem to be concentrated by the bases of the Jellyshrooms. While that can be enough to find some Magnetite, you’ll be doing yourself a favor if you bring a Seamoth down with you. You’ll probably only have a few seconds down there without the proper equipment. Most of the Jellyshroom Cave is around 200m deep, so you won’t have long down there if you dive, especially if you don’t have a Rebreather. While not strictly necessary, you should bring a Seamoth for a portable oxygen supply and a bit of defense. You’ll know an entrance when you see one it’s a small opening that goes pretty deep, with a bunch of mushrooms lining the walls on the way down. Each entrance is in a Grassy Plateaus biome, fairly close to rocky outcrops or small hills. To access the Jellyshroom Cave, you can choose between four entrances one southeast of Lifepod 5, over in the direction of the Aurora, with the other three off to the west. It’s fairly safe, provided you keep your wits about you, and you’ll be able to obtain quite a few resources down there, including Magnetite. Arguably the best place to find Magnetite in the early game is the Jellyshroom Cave. |
